Refund and Cancellation Policy

Last updated 12 September 2026

Draft — not yet in force

This document is complete in substance but is missing details only the operator can supply: the registered company name, the registered address and the governing jurisdiction. Until those are set, this page is excluded from search engines and should not be relied on. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

This policy covers subscription fees paid to Edesy for use of the Edesy platform. It is written to be read once and understood, rather than to be technically defensible.

1. What this policy covers — and what it does not

It covers money you paid us for a plan.

It does NOT cover a course you bought from somebody's course website. Those payments go directly to that organisation's own Stripe or Razorpay account — we never hold them — so their refund policy applies and their support address is the one to write to. You will find both on the site you bought from.

2. Before you pay anything

There is a free plan, and it is a working one: you can build a site, publish a course and take real enrolments on it without paying. We would rather you found out the product does not suit you before any money changes hands than argue about a refund afterwards.

We do not ask for card details to start a free plan or a trial, and a trial does not roll into a paid plan by itself.

3. Cancelling

Cancel at any time from your billing settings. No notice period, no phone call, no retention script.

  • Cancellation stops the next payment; it does not cut off your Site immediately.
  • You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • After that the account moves to the free plan where it fits within those limits, or becomes read-only so you can still export your data.

4. Refunds

If you are within 14 days of your first payment on a paid plan and it is not right for you, write to [email protected] and we will refund it in full. You do not have to justify the request.

Beyond that window, subscription fees for a period already begun are not usually refunded, because the service was available to you throughout it. Two exceptions, both of which we apply without being pushed:

  • If we billed you in error — a duplicate charge, a plan you had already cancelled, a rate you did not agree to — we refund it in full, regardless of when it happened.
  • If a fault on our side made the Platform substantially unusable for a meaningful part of a period, we refund that part of it.

If we change these terms materially and you cancel rather than accept the change, we refund the unused remainder of the period you had paid for.

5. Annual plans

An annual plan is refundable in full within the same 14 days of the first payment.

After that, if you cancel part way through an annual term, you keep access for the rest of the term you paid for. We do not refund the remainder as a matter of course, but if your circumstances have genuinely changed — you closed the programme, the organisation restructured — ask us. We would rather deal with it sensibly than have you feel trapped by a yearly plan.

6. How to ask, and what happens next

Email [email protected] from the address on the account, with the site or organisation name. There is no form.

  • We reply within one working day, and either approve it or explain plainly why not.
  • An approved refund goes back to the original payment method and takes 5 to 10 working days to appear, depending on your bank and payment provider.
  • We refund in the currency you paid. We cannot cover a change in exchange rate or a fee charged by your own bank.

7. If you disagree with us

Tell us before you raise a chargeback. A chargeback locks the payment while it is investigated and usually takes longer than simply asking us would have.

If we have declined a refund and you still think we are wrong, say so and a person who was not involved the first time will look at it again.

8. If you are a learner, not a customer

You bought a course from an organisation that uses this platform to run its website. That organisation took your payment into its own account, issues your invoice, and sets its own refund terms.

Contact them — their details are on the site you bought from. We cannot refund a payment we never received, and we cannot overrule their policy.

If you cannot reach them at all, write to [email protected] and we will do what we can to put you in touch. That is the limit of what we are able to do.
